INTRODUCTION
TO CAREERS GUIDANCE
Careers
Bradford delivers this Open College accredited course to a range of community workers,
youth workers and social workers who are in contact with unemployed young people and
adults. Large numbers of staff in the Bradford Area have completed the
Introduction to Careers Guidance. Feedback is very positive including a
participant who said "I've really enjoyed the course and have learned a
lot. I can use this to improve my own practice. I would recommend this
course."
The aim is
to provide these professionals with 'first level' guidance skills and knowledge which will
enable them to enter into initial discussions about careers options and to signpost
clients to mainstream services eg careers service, colleges, training providers,
voluntary agencies, benefits agency etc...
The
course is delivered over 5 days and will provide the opportunity for participants to:
-
develop an understanding of the network
of referral agencies available locally
-
develop knowledge and understanding of the range of
opportunities available to unemployed adults and young people
-
further develop their personal skills in order to deliver first level careers guidance
-
establish and maintain a careers information point
within the community base
Careers
Bradford also offers the opportunity for careers services to franchise
the Introduction to Careers Guidance course, giving them the opportunity
to deliver it to their partners locally. For more details email Julie
Evans or telephone her on 01274 829417.
